Scout had a clear vision for her studio + creekside sunset session. Our time together started out in the studio in Leander, Texas. One of her favorite colors is lavender, and she used that as inspiration for her look in the studio. She included a pair of lavender jelly shoes with a matching skirt and top. Scout is kind and sweet so the soft tone of lavender suits her personality well!
Scout had professional hair and makeup services by Kelley Alba and added lip color touch ups to match each outfit during her photoshoot. This extra makeup service makes a huge impact on the color harmony of the images, and I highly recommend it to my clients!
Although Scout is sweet, she rocked the serious, strong woman attitude during her more moody sets. We created a look to focus on her favorite jewel-studded shoes. Including a favorite wardrobe piece is an excellent way to get inspiration for your outfits. I love to plan custom senior sessions around outfits already in your closet.
One request from Scout’s mom, Jamie, was a black and white portrait for her home. We were able to capture the perfect image while we were in the studio and it’s the only black and white photo in the gallery. The ability to create an art piece and finished products for your home is a great benefit to a full-service senior photographer!
After we spent some time in the studio we headed out to Brushy Creek Lake Park in Cedar Park, Texas. Scout wore a light blue, romantic dress, and we were able to capture some incredible sunset images. We took these photos in July just after a lot of rain so the creekside greenery was so vibrant! The golden light was stunning and Scout looked amazing in the field. She had fun dancing to her favorite music which helped me capture natural smiles.
After the golden light was too low on the horizon, we moved to one last spot to catch the last bit of golden light reflecting off the creek water. I am so thankful we did because the light and mood was incredible and Scout perfected her posing at this spot! It was the perfect ending to our studio + creekside sunset session together.
Inside scoop from this session: I fell in a cacti bush toward the end of the session. We all shared a good laugh and I pulled the cactus needles out of my leg. It was worth the little bit of pain for the beautiful art we created and the memories we made together! (And if that’s not the most “Texas Photographer” problem I’ve ever heard, I don’t know what is!)
I printed my favorite image from this session on metal, and added a custom, hand-painted frame from Italy for my new studio sample. Follow us on Instagram to see samples of all of our high school senior products including Scout’s new metal print!
